- Essentially, a give-and-go (And-again) - To pass the ball to a teammate,
run past a defender, and the teammate returns the ball.
Attack It
- means to get up for a challenge in the air, and don't let the ball hit the
ground. Or, to challenge in the air for a cross.

Banana Kick
- A kick that makes the ball bend or swerve in the air instead of going straight.
Bunny-ball
- Playing a ball to another player in a terrible position for that player
to make them look worse
Challenge
- To "challenge" the player with the ball.
Chip
- A pass made by a stabbing motion of the kicking foot to the lower half of
the ball to loft it over the heads of opponents
Clear
- Clear a throw or a kick by the goalkeeper, or a kick by a defender, in an
attempt to get the ball away from the goal area.
Clear or clearance
- Usually used in defensive 1/3 of field. To play the ball out of the
area taking away the opponents chances of offence.
Cross
- Pass or kick the ball across the mouth of the opponent's goal.
Diddy – Useless
player.
Dispossess
- To take the ball away from an opponent who had control of the ball.
Diver
– A player who falls or throws himself down in the opponents’ penalty area,
in an attempt to deceive the referee into awarding him a penalty kick.
Drop back
and mark - The defending team needs to move to their goal, picking
up and marking opponents
Dummy
- To let the ball go past or through your legs to a teammate.
Far post
- The goal post furthest from the ball.

- When a player shoots the ball into the goal.

- shoot or pass the ball with the first touch.

- An effective kick for those who can't kick far which is when the ball is
coming towards you and you use the energy as it's coming towards you to kick

Hospital pass
- a pass that might result in injury to a teammate striving to reach it first.
Howler – a mistake. Absolute howler - A big mistake.
Jostle and
Harry - Put an opponent under pressure but not actually tackle him.
“Keeper”
- Stay the hell away from the ball, the goalkeeper is coming for it!
Late tackle
- A tackle made after the ball was played by the offensive player. Should
result in a foul.

- Referring to speed of the ball from a pass.

pass - To serve the ball to an overlapping
teammate at a 90-degree angle. Pass should be within 10 yards, otherwise unwise.

Out. - Instruction for defensive line to pull out for offside
Sweeper
- The player positioned behind the fullbacks and in front of the goalie
that has the authority to play either the right, middle or left side of the
field (hence sweeps) to block the opposing team's shot or player.
Switch - Means
to switch the point of attack (i.e. switch the ball from the right side of
the field to the left).
"Through"
pass, ball - To serve the ball through a flat defensive alignment into
a forward space. Thus, creating opportunity on the goal.
Time
- Having enough time to look up and move the ball, (no close opponent.)
Touch line
- Sideline. When the ball is in "touch" it is out of bounds and
can be picked up with the hands.
Turn
- Telling your teammate he has time to control the ball and turn up
field.

- Turn around and get ready for the kick
Unlucky
- A nice short way of saying, "That wasn't your fault, just bad
luck" most players will understand, can be applied in almost any situation
where someone commits a foul, kicks the ball out of bounds on accident, etc.

- To pass the ball to a teammate, run past the defender, and the teammate
returns the ball.
